For those not in the know - this is a scene from 28 Days Later. More specifically, the best scene.
Overcome by the world he has been forced into, Jim lets loose on one of the malevolent armed forces who is attempting to rape his friend/love interest Selina. Pounding the man's head against a wall, and then forcing his thumbs into the mans eyes, Jim is barely distinguishable from the virus infected pseudo-zombies that put him in this situation in the first place.
I didn't know it at first, but this scene, and specifically this shot, is what made me want to become a director. When I first saw this scene at 15, I was sucked in. Completely absorbed, and concerned for the characters. I identified with Jim, and almost relished in the murder as much as he did. I had never felt like that before, and it was because of a *movie*. I was moved, and I later realized that I wanted to spend my life moving people in that way.
That's why this piece is special to me.
This is my second attempt at making a piece with Corel Painter X. The first having been [link] . I... got better. I guess.
The first piece was a long freakin' time ago though, so I guess that explains it.
So most irritating part to do? Uh, probably Jim's left forearm... but I guess it was irritating because of how detailed it was. I went from top to bottom, and I think it shows... the victim's face is much more detailed than Jim's is. Oh well.
So expect more in this style. Once I have a tablet (instead of doing that all with a mouse) I'll be able to pump them out too. I'm thinking of doing backgrounds for Moz using this technique too.
I really liked 28 days later. Actually, it's my favorite movie. This scene really got me too. The music, the atmosphere, Jim's rage... so brutal and well-carried. Danny Boyle is my favorite director since I saw the movie when I was 15 (now I'm 17). You've done a REALLY GREAT job capturing the essence. I also thought it was a picutre first. I feel identified with you, that's a scene that really shocked me and made me love Boyle and Murphy (both John and Cillian). I've just become a Deviant to comment this work! Well done! 10/10, it makes me remember... (Sorry if I made any mistake, I'm an Spanish (not mexican, please!) person and I'm curently studying english)

Oh fuck, this is fantastic. Like, seriously. This was one of my favourite scenes, as well. Cillian Murphy is just so badass, and you did a wonderful job of portraying said badassery. Brilliant.
Really amazing man!

Your really good.
It's funny that this is the scene that made you want to become a director, because it's the scene that inspired me to become an actor.
Brilliant.
I can feel the hatred and tension.
Superb job!
